Hi! I’m Carol. I am an LPC- Associate on my journey to full licensure. I provide individual or play therapy for adults, adolescents, and kids. I have been in the counseling field for about 5 years, with around 10 years of social service work before that. I currently specialize in ADHD, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
During my time in multiple social service roles through many years I obtained a lot of experience with crisis management, clients experiencing severe mental health difficulties, trauma, and suicidal and homicidal ideations. While seeing clients in their homes and in the office, I decided to pursue a Master’s in Special Education from the University of North Texas in order to make a more meaningful impact in the lives of children. While completing my student teaching, I concentrated on children with autism and obtained a certification in Autism Intervention. I decided I wanted to make an impact in the life of each individual, and went to school (hopefully for the last time) to accomplish a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Texas Wesleyan University. Since obtaining my LPC Associate license, my professional background includes working in inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities, in schools, homes, nursing homes, and private practice.
My certifications include ASSIST suicide intervention, AUT Play Therapy, Autism Intervention, Stephen Ministry, and Trauma Treatment (CCTP). I have training in 4 different types of play therapy: Traditional, Adlerian, Synergetic, and Aut Play. For children I prefer Adlerian Play Therapy which works with both parents and children to help families achieve goals through collaborative efforts. I believe that every individual is the expert of their own life and the duty of the counselor in therapy is guiding and supporting the individual towards their self-defined goals by using strengths that the individual already possesses to create positive changes in their life. My therapeutic modality is a blend of Solution Focused Therapy and CBT. We will explore your current thoughts and behaviors in order to create a preferred future and take steps together in order to overcome any problems by building solutions. I always want my clients to get something out of therapy. I enjoy teaching coping and life management skills by using activities, games, and worksheets to explore feelings and build skills.
I am a mother of 2 with 2 bonus kids. In my free time I enjoy watching movies, playing video games, watching kids sports, and tabletop role play.
